Creating myself –  my motto for the year 2023

For years I haven’t really been a fan of new year’s resolution.  Not that I haven’t believed in annual goals.  I have.  As a matter of fact, I have been setting goals for years and followed them.  It has given something like an orientation.  And yet, I admit that at times I got distracted, didn’t follow up on my goals, changed direction half way or forgot my goals altogether.

Last year was different in that I did set an annual goal: learning to love myself the way I am.  Today, a little bit more than a year later I am proud to say that I have achieved my goal.
This does not mean that the journey ends.  Indeed, having „achieved“ my goal has shown me how much goal-setting can be liberating, motivating, directing, soothing, energizing, inspiring.  It depends what you make of it.

In 2023 the journey continues.  My #1 goal for 2023 is to create myself.

LIFE isn’t
ABOUT FINDING
YOURSELF
LIFE is about
CREATING
YOURSELF

For years I have had this quote on a board right behind my desks.  It first didn’t resonate with me.  For I found it pretentious to claim that life is about creating yourself.  Today, I think differently.  For life is not solely about reacting to external circumstances but shaping our environment.  We are not passive human resources.  We are agents of change – if we choose to be so.

Creating myself encompasses nurturing my physical, emotional and spiritual health.  And it doesn’t stop there as creating myself opens doors to much more.  Hence, I came up with a list of five goals or drivers for 2023:

All five drivers are related to each other one way or another.  And there is no strict order of these drivers.  I think they will help me shape and live an exciting year 2023 and I am really looking forward to it.

New year’s resolutions are personal in nature.  These five drivers are mine.  But I don’t want to keep them to myself but want to share my experiences along the way.  This is why I want to speak about my personal experiences on a more regular basis.  For this purpose I am using this blog as well as my YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@Motivate2B-Channel).  Any feedback will be highly welcome.  I am curious, nervous and excited about it.  All at the same time.  And I feel that somehow I am going out on a limb.  But hey!

No risk.  No story.
