Now is the time: Envision and shape resilient and sustainable futures.

This is no call for dreamers, but for everyone who has a keen interest in our future.  Not the future of machines or resources.  A future for humans co-created and shaped by humans.

The question is where to start.  And what orientation we may have.  The 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations are a good start and serve as a compass for this mission. They provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.  They are a strong vision for us all.

My friend and business partner Marc Buckley has translated the 17 SDGs into a practical resilient sustainable UN SDG Manifesto.

The Resilient Sustainable UN SDG Manifesto

Imagine a world where there is NO POVERTY and ZERO HUNGER.

We have GOOD HEALTH AND WELL BEING, QUALITY EDUCATION, and full GENDER EQUALITY everywhere.

There is CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION for everyone.

AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY has created DECENT WORK AND Sustainable ECONOMIC GROWTH.

Our prosperity is fueled by investments in Resilient INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE and that has REDUCED INEQUALITIES.

We live in SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES and RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION has healed our planet. CLIMATE ACTION has STOPPED and REVERSED the Warming of our planet and we have flourishing LIFE BELOW WATER and abundant, diverse LIFE ON LAND.

We enjoy PEACE AND JUSTICE through STRONG INSTITUTIONS and have built long-term PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS

Realizing the Manifesto one project at a time

For some people the manifesto is still too abstract.  The question is how and where to start.  In my book Human Business I am writing about the power of projects.  They allow us to work on small, concrete steps toward the vision of a resilient and sustainable world described in the vision.

This spring, Marc Buckley and I will launch a new event series that invites you to explore the world of projects.  Actions for Futures is a 3-days event for youth and change makers who want to share and explore ideas about how they want to live in their futures and turn these ideas into concrete projects for change.  Selected results will be presented at the World Economic Forum 2021.  I will share details about Actions for Futures in the coming weeks.
